DemocratGloria Johnson flippedKnoxville'sSuburban 13th district, and DemocratBob Freeman flipped suburbanNashville's 56th district, whileRepublicanChris Hurt defeated Democratic minority leaderCraig Fitzhugh inwest Tennessee'srural 82nd district. The Republican Party maintained theirsupermajority in the state house.[1][2]
Both the speaker and the minority leader retired, and their seats were subsequently won by the opposing party.
