The2017 Suruga Bank Championship (Japanese:スルガ銀行チャンピオンシップ2017;Spanish:Copa Suruga Bank 2017) was the tenth edition of theSuruga Bank Championship (also referred to as theJ.League Cup / Copa Sudamericana Championship Final), the clubfootball match co-organized by theJapan Football Association, the football governing body ofJapan,CONMEBOL, the football governing body ofSouth America, andJ.League, the professional football league of Japan, between the champions of the previous season'sJ.League Cup andCopa Sudamericana.
The match was contested betweenJapanese teamUrawa Red Diamonds, the2016 J.League Cup champions, andBrazilian teamChapecoense, the2016 Copa Sudamericana champions. It was hosted by Urawa Red Diamonds at theSaitama Stadium 2002 inSaitama, Japan on 15 August 2017.[1][2][3][4]
Urawa Red Diamonds defeated Chapecoense 1–0 to win their first Suruga Bank Championship title.[5]

The Suruga Bank Championship was played as a single match, with the J.League Cup winners hosting the match. If tied at the end of regulation,extra time would not be played, and thepenalty shoot-out would be used to determine the winner. A maximum of seven substitutions may be made during the match.[6]
