The2016 Kansas Democratic presidential caucuses took place on March 5 in the U.S. state ofKansas as one of theDemocratic Party's primaries ahead of the2016 presidential election.
On the same day,Democratic primaries were held inLouisiana and inNebraska, while theRepublican Party held primaries in four states including their ownKansas caucuses.

As he did throughout most other states that heldcaucuses, as well as mostfarm belt andGreat Plains states, Bernie Sanders defeated Hillary Clinton by a two-to-one margin in Kansas, one of thereddest states in the nation. Sanders ran up big margins inurban areas includingKansas City,Lawrence,Topeka, andWichita, but also won in veryrural areas. He won all four congressional districts in the state, never dipping below 60% of the vote. His worst showing was inKansas's Third Congressional District which bordersMissouri, where he received 62% of the vote.
