The2016–17Philadelphia Flyersseason was the50th season for theNational Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 5, 1967.[2] This was the 2nd season under head coachDave Hakstol. The Flyers missed the playoffs, finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference and 6th in the Metropolitan Division.

Off-season

[edit]

The Flyers had a relatively quiet off-season, with their main actions being to re-signRadko Gudas[3] andBrayden Schenn[4] to 4-year extensions.Nick Cousins andBrandon Manning who both saw significant time the previous season were also retained.[5][6] With the Flyers electing not to re-signRyan White andSam Gagner, they moved to sign free agentDale Weise on July 1 to a 4-year $9.4 million deal, also addingBoyd Gordon on a 1-year deal the same day.[7]
