The2016–17 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles men's basketball team representedFlorida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in the2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. FGCU played their home games atAlico Arena inFort Myers, Florida and were led by fourth-year head coachJoe Dooley as members of theAtlantic Sun Conference. They finished the regular season 26–8, 12–2 inASUN play to win the regular season championship. As the No. 1 seed in theASUN tournament, they defeatedStetson,Kennesaw State, andNorth Florida to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to theNCAA tournament where they lost in the first round toFlorida State.

TheEagles finished the2015–16 season 21–14, 8–6 inA-Sun play to finish in a three-way tie for second place. They defeatedKennesaw State,North Florida, andStetson to win theA-Sun tournament. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to theNCAA tournament as a No. 16 seed where they defeated fellow No. 16 seedFairleigh Dickinson in the First Four. The Eagles advanced to the first round where they lost to No. 1 seedNorth Carolina.
