The2016–17 season wasFalkirk's fourth season in theScottish Championship and their sixth consecutive season in the second-tier of Scottish football following their relegation from theScottish Premier League at the end of the2009–10 season . Falkirk also competed in theChallenge Cup,League Cup and theScottish Cup.

Falkirk finished as runners-up in the Scottish Championship for the second consecutive season and qualified for thePremiership play-offs, losing toDundee United in the semi-final.[1]
