The2012 Washington State Treasurer election was held on November 6, 2012, to elect theWashington State Treasurer, concurrently with the2012 U.S. presidential election, as well aselections to theU.S. Senate and variousstate and local elections, including forU.S. House andgovernor of Washington. Washington is one of two states that holds atop-two primary, meaning that all candidates are listed on the same ballot regardless of party affiliation, and the top two move on to the general election.

IncumbentDemocratic State TreasurerJames McIntire was first elected back in2008 defeating then-assistant state treasurer Allan Martin.[1] He was re-election to a second term in office, defeatingRepublican challenger Sharon Hanek in a landslide.[2]

The top-two primary was held on August 7.
