The2009 West Texas A&M Buffaloes football team representedWest Texas A&M University during the2009 NCAA Division II football season as a member of theLone Star Conference (LSC). The Buffaloes were led by fifth-year head coachDon Carthel and played their home games atKimbrough Memorial Stadium inCanyon, Texas.

West Texas finished the season with an overall record of 7–5 with a conference record of 6–3. For the first time under Carthel, the Buffs failed to receive an invitation to the NCAA Division II playoffs. Instead, the team was invited to the inauguralKanza Bowl, where they defeatedNebraska–Omaha by a score of 31–25.[1][2]
