Election

[edit]

Major GeneralYaakov Amidror declined calls to serve as the party's leader.[2] Instead, he served as chairman of the party committee in which the leadership vote was held on December 8.[2] Other members of the committee includedAsher Cohen.[3] The council opted for Hershkowitz instead of figures who were already nationally established in hopes of having a fresh face so that they could launch the new party with a fresh image.[2]

The day after the leadership vote, the same party council selected the candidates for the party'selectoral list in theforthcoming Knesset elections.[2]
