The2008 Indian Wells Open (also known as thePacific Life Open for sponsorship reasons) was atennis tournament played on outdoorhard courts. It was the 35th edition of the Indian Wells Open, and was part of theATP Masters Series of the2008 ATP Tour, and of theTier I Series of the2008 WTA Tour. Both the men's and the women's events took place at theIndian Wells Tennis Garden inIndian Wells, California, United States, from March 10 through March 23, 2008.

The men's singles were headlined by theWorld No. 1, reigningWimbledon andUS Open champion andMasters Cup winnerRoger Federer, theATP No. 2,Chennai runner-up and thedefending championRafael Nadal, and theAustralian Open championNovak Djokovic. Also competing in the field were the2007 Moscow title holderNikolay Davydenko, theMasters Cup finalistDavid Ferrer,Andy Roddick,David Nalbandian andRichard Gasquet.

The women's draw included theWTA No. 2 and theAustralian Open runner-upAna Ivanovic, theSydney andDubai finalistSvetlana Kuznetsova, and theAustralian Open semifinalistJelena Janković. Other top seeds present were theTour Championships finalist and theAustralian Open championMaria Sharapova, thedefending championDaniela Hantuchová,Marion Bartoli,Nicole Vaidišová andDinara Safina.

SerbiansNovak Djokovic[3] andAna Ivanovic[4] won the respective men's and women's singles titles. For Djokovic, it was his second title of the year, following his success at theAustralian Open, whilst for Ivanovic, it was her first title of the year, but it would be her last Tier I/Premier title to date.
