In theCharsadda bombing of 9 February 2008, asuicide bomber killed at least 27 people and another 50 were injured inCharsadda,Pakistan attending a political rally for the oppositionAwami National Party.[1][2] No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Interior MinisterHamid Nawaz Khan suspectedAl-Qaeda orTaliban-linked groups were responsible after threatening all political parties in theNorth-West Frontier Province.[3] The bombing occurred nine days before the 2008Pakistani general election which was postponed in the wake of theassassination of Benazir Bhutto.
