The2006 South Carolina Gamecocks football team represented theUniversity of South Carolina in theSoutheastern Conference during the2006 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Gamecocks were led bySteve Spurrier inhis second season as USC head coach and played their home games inWilliams–Brice Stadium inColumbia, South Carolina.

The Gamecocks finished the season 8–5, ending with wins in thePalmetto Bowl andLiberty Bowl.[1] Their eight-win campaign, victory overClemson, and bowl victory were each the first since2001.[2][3] All of the team's losses were against top-12 opponents, and four of those losses were within seven points.[1]

The October 28 game against Tennessee played host to ESPN'sCollege Gameday, the third year in a row that South Carolina had hosted the program.
