The Final was played between Tasmania and New South Wales from March 19 to 23, 2007. By virtue of finishing on top of the table at the end of the season, Tasmania won the right to host the final atBellerive Oval. Highlighted by individual efforts fromBen Hilfenhaus,Damien Wright and man-of-the-matchLuke Butterworth, Tasmania won convincingly by 421 runs to claim their maiden first-class championship, after finishing runner-up three times. They had only been competing full-time since the1982/83 season; before that, when they joined the competition, they only played one game against every state.[2]
