The2006–07 AHLseason was the71st season of theAmerican Hockey League. Twenty-seven teams played 80 games each in the schedule. TheHamilton Bulldogs won their firstCalder Cup, defeating the defending champions, theHershey Bears in the finals.

The league mandated that players wear ahockey helmet with a visor, following research on eye injuries byMayo Clinic physicianMichael Stuart.[1]

All Star Classic

The 20th AHL All-Star Classic was played on January 29, 2007 at theRicoh Coliseum inToronto, Ontario. Team PlanetUSA defeated Team Canada 7-6. In the skills competition held the night before, Team PlanetUSA defeated Team Canada 19-14.[1][2]Archived 2007-01-29 at theWayback Machine
