The2005 MLS SuperDraft, held inBaltimore, Maryland, on January 14, 2005, was the sixth incarnation of the annualMLS SuperDraft. Expansion clubReal Salt Lake had the first pick as the result of a coin toss (fellow newcomersC.D. Chivas USA got to go first in theexpansion draft). RSL drafted Under-17 midfielderNikolas Besagno with the first selection.

A collective bargaining agreement with the MLS Players' Union dictated that the draft be reduced from six to four rounds, although asupplemental draft was held to equip newly formed reserve teams and compensate for expansion.

Chivas USA selectedBrad Guzan 2nd overall. The2007MLS Goalkeeper of the Year is a 2xMLS All-Star and named to the 2007MLS Best XI. He earned 64 caps with theUS Men's National Team and was selected to the2010 and2014FIFA World Cup squads.
FC Dallas selectedDrew Moor 6th overall. The2015 MLS All-Star is a member of400 games played club and holds the record for the most consecutive games played by a field player at 68 matches.
New England selectedMichael Parkhurst 9th overall. The2005MLS Rookie of the Year is a 6xAll-Star and in2007 won theMLS Defender of the Year and was named to theMLS Best XI.
