The2004 Wisconsin Badgers football team was anAmerican football team that represented theUniversity of Wisconsin–Madison as a member of theBig Ten Conference during the2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their 15th year under head coachBarry Alvarez, the Badgers compiled a 9–3 record (6–2 in conference games), finished in third place in the Big Ten, and outscored opponents by a total of 249 to 185.[1] The Badgers began the season 9–0, including victories over No. 18Ohio State and No. 5Purdue. They then lost their final three games, including a loss to No. 17Iowa and concluding with a 24–21 loss toGeorgiaOutback Bowl.[2] The Badgers were ranked No. 17 and No. 18, respectively, in the finalAP and Coaches polls.

The team's statistical leaders included quarterbackJohn Stocco (1,999 rushing yards), running backAnthony Davis (973 rushing yards, 66 points scored), and wide receiver Brand Williams (42 receptions for 517 yards).[1]

The team played its home games atCamp Randall Stadium inMadison, Wisconsin.
