The2004 Missouri Secretary of State election was held on 2 November 2004 in order to elect thesecretary of state of Missouri.Democratic nomineeRobin Carnahan defeatedRepublican nominee andincumbentspeaker of the Missouri House of RepresentativesCatherine Hanaway,Libertarian nominee Christopher Davis andConstitution nominee Donna L. Ivanovich.[1]
On election day, 2 November 2004,Democratic nomineeRobin Carnahan won the election by a margin of 124,780 votes against her foremost opponentRepublican nomineeCatherine Hanaway, thereby gaining Democratic control over the office of secretary of state. Carnahan was sworn in as the 38thsecretary of state of Missouri on 10 January 2005.[2]
