The2004 Intercontinental Cup was anassociation football match that took place on 12 December 2004 betweenPorto of Portugal, winners of the2003–04 UEFA Champions League, andOnce Caldas of Colombia, winners of the2004 Copa Libertadores. The match was played at theInternational Stadium inYokohama, Japan in front of 45,748 fans and ended 0–0 afterextra time, where Porto eventually won 8–7 in thepenalty shoot-out.Maniche of Porto, despite being the only Porto player to miss his penalty kick, was named asman of the match.[1]

This was the last Intercontinental Cup final as the competition was subsequently expanded from a single game between European and South American champions into theFIFA Club World Cup, also includingNorth, Central American and Caribbean,Asian,African andOceanian continental champions.

The match was the 43rd Intercontinental Cup, an annual football competition organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).
