The2004–05 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team represented theUniversity of KansasJayhawks for theNCAADivision I men's2004–05 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led byBill Self in his second season as head coach. The team played its home games atAllen Fieldhouse inLawrence, Kansas. The Jayhawks finished the season with a record of 23–7, 12–4 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for first place in conference. The season marked the first of an NCAA record-setting 14 consecutive conference championships for Kansas. They lost toOklahoma State in the semifinals of theBig 12 tournament. They received an at-large bid to theNCAA tournament as a No. 3 seed in the Syracuse Region. The Jayhawks were upset in the first round byBucknell on a last second shot.
