The2004–05 Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball team representedIowa State University during the2004–05 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cyclones were coached byWayne Morgan, who was in his 2nd season. They played their home games atHilton Coliseum inAmes, Iowa, and competed in theBig 12 Conference.

Previous season

TheCyclones finished 20–13, 7–9 inBig 12 play to finish 8th the regular season conference standings.[2] They lost toOklahoma State in the quarterfinals of theBig 12 tournament. They received an at-large bid to theNIT tournament where they defeatedGeorgia,Florida State,Marquette and lost toRutgers in the Final Four.[3]
