The2003 Taça de Portugal Final was the final match of the2002–03 Taça de Portugal, the 63rd season of theTaça de Portugal, the premier Portuguesefootball cup competition organized by thePortuguese Football Federation (FPF). The match was played on 15 June 2003 at theEstádio Nacional inOeiras, and opposed twoPrimeira Liga sides:Porto andUnião de Leiria. Porto defeatedUnião de Leiria 1–0, thanks to a second half strike from Brazilian strikerDerlei.[5][6] Porto's cup victory would give them a twelfth Taça de Portugal, and seal thetreble after winning thePrimeira Liga and theUEFA Cup a few weeks before the cup final.[7][8]
InPortugal, the final was televised live onTVI andSport TV.[9] As Porto claimed both league and cup double in the same season, cup runners-upUnião de Leiria faced their cup final opponents in the2003 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira at theEstádio D. Afonso Henriques inGuimarães.[10]
