The2002 Alabama Senate election was held on November 7, 2002, to determine which party would control theAlabama Senate for the following four years in the 2002-2006 Alabama Legislature. All 35 seats in theAlabama Senate were up for election and the primary occurred on June 6, 2002. Prior to the election, 24 seats were held byDemocrats and 11 seats were held byRepublicans. The general election saw Democrats expand their majority in the State Senate by a single seat.[1][2]
