The2000 Welwyn Hatfield District Council election took place on 6 May 2000 to elect members ofWelwyn Hatfield District Council inHertfordshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and theLabour Party gained overall control of the council fromno overall control.[1] Overallturnout in the election was 31.71%, down from 33.09% in the1999 election.[2]

The results saw Labour gain control of the council with a majority of 2 over theConservatives, which was a reversal of the trend of the2000 local elections where Labour overall lost almost 600councillors.[5]
