The2000–01 season was the 92nd year offootball played byDundee United, and covers the period from 1 July 2000 to 30 June 2001. United finished in eleventh place in theScottish Premier League, in the first year of the league split, forced by the expansion to twelve teams.

United were knocked out of both domestic cup competitions by theOld Firm - toRangers in theCIS Insurance Cup quarter-finals and to eventual winnersCeltic in theTennent'sScottish Cup semi-finals.

Dundee United played a total of 46 competitive matches during the 2000–01 season.[1] The team finished eleventh in theScottish Premier League.

In the cup competitions, United were knocked out of theCIS Cup at the semi-finals stage, losing toRangers.Celtic knocked United out of theTennent'sScottish Cup at the semi-final stage. Both matches finished 1–0.
