The1999 Rother District Council election took place on 6 May 1999 to elect members ofRotherDistrict Council inEast Sussex, England. The whole council was up for election and theConservative Party gained overall control of the council fromno overall control.[1]
Before the election both the Conservatives andLiberal Democrats had 16councillors, while there were 8independents and 5 from theLabour Party.[2] Among the councillors who stood down at the election were the independent councillors, Clifford Jordan and George Shackleton, fromRye and Liberal Democrat Jill Theis ofCrowhurst andCatsfieldward.[2]
The Conservatives won all 3 seats inBexhill Collington ward without opposition.[2]
