The1998 Nevada gubernatorial election occurred on November 3, 1998. Incumbent DemocratBob Miller wasterm limited. Republican nomineeKenny Guinn defeated Democratic nomineeJan Laverty Jones. This was the first open seat Nevada gubernatorial election since1978, and the first time since then that a Republican was elected Governor of Nevada. This is also the last time a Democrat carried any county in a Gubernatorial election aside fromClark andWashoe.
