The1998–99 KNVB Cup (at the time calledAmstel Cup) was the 81st edition of theDutch nationalfootball annual knockout tournament for theKNVB Cup. 61 teams contested, beginning on 11 August 1998 and ending at the final on 13 May 1999.

Ajax successfully defended its1998 title[1] and successfully pursued its 14thKNVB Cup on 13 May 1999 inDe Kuip,Rotterdam, defeatingFortuna Sittard, 2–0.[2] 25,000 attended.

The Cup Winners' Cup tournament no longer existed, Ajax contested theUEFA Cup.[citation needed]
