The1997 Utah State Aggies football team representedUtah State University in the1997 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team was led by third-year head coachJohn L. Smith and played their home games atRomney Stadium inLogan, Utah.
Utah State was co-champion of theBig West Conference, completed the regular season with a6–5 record (4–1 in conference), and received an invitation to the inauguralHumanitarian Bowl inBoise, Idaho. The Aggies were defeated byCincinnati, 35–19,[1] in their last bowl appearance until2011. Smith left forLouisville after the season, and was succeeded byDave Arslanian in 1998.
