The1996 Philadelphia Phillies season was the 114th season in thehistory of the franchise. The Phillies finished fifth in theNational League East with a record of 67 wins and 95 losses. They also hosted the1996 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

  • The Phillies were hit for the cycle against on July 3 during a game againsttheir rivalNew York Mets.Alex Ochoa hit for the cycle against the Phillies when the Mets won atVeterans Stadium.[5] This was the first time since 1951 that a player had hit for the cycle against the Phillies.[5]

The1996 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 67th playing of the midsummer classic between theall-stars of theAmerican League (AL) andNational League (NL). The game was held on July 9, 1996, atVeterans Stadium inPhiladelphia. The game resulted in the National League defeating the American League 6–0.Joe Carter, theToronto Blue Jays representative to the All-Star Game, received boos from the crowd for his home run that ended the1993 World Series.[11][12][13]
