Alison Sydor of Canada successfully defended her world title in thewomen's cross country. Themen's cross country was won byBart Brentjens of theNetherlands, who would win the firstOlympic gold medal inmen's cross country the following year at the1996 Summer Olympics inAtlanta.
Nicolas Vouilloz of France won themen's downhill in his first year in the elite category, after having won the junior men's downhill world title the three previous years.Leigh Donovan of the United States won thewomen's downhill.
