The1992–93 Milwaukee Bucks season was the 25th season for theMilwaukee Bucks in theNational Basketball Association.[1] In the1992 NBA draft, the Bucks selected shooting guardTodd Day with the eighth overall pick, and selected point guardLee Mayberry with the 23rd overall pick, both from theUniversity of Arkansas.[2][3][4] During the off-season, the team acquiredBlue Edwards and second-year guardEric Murdock from theUtah Jazz,[5][2][6] and hiredMike Dunleavy as their new Head Coach and General Manager.[7][8][9]

The Bucks got off to a strong start, winning 10 of their first 13 games of the regular season. However, they would struggle as they went on an 11-game losing streak in December, then posted a 7-game losing streak in January, and held a 20–31 record at the All-Star break,[10] asMoses Malone only played just eleven games due to a back injury.[11][12][13] At mid-season, the team tradedAlvin Robertson to theDetroit Pistons in exchange forOrlando Woolridge, who only played in just eight games for the team due to a broken hand injury,[14][15][16] while the team signed free agentDerek Strong. The Bucks lost their final eight games of the season, finishing in last place in theCentral Division with a disappointing 28–54 record.[17]

Edwards averaged 16.9 points and 1.6 steals per game, whileFrank Brickowski averaged 16.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, and Murdock provided the team with 14.4 points, 7.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game. In addition, Day averaged 13.8 points per game, but was not named to anNBA All-Rookie Team at season's end, while rookie forwardAnthony Avent contributed 9.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Off the bench,Brad Lohaus averaged 9.1 points per game, whileFred Roberts contributed 7.6 points per game, and Mayberry provided with 5.2 points and 3.3 assists per game.[18]

Murdock finished in second place inMost Improved Player voting, behindChris Jackson of theDenver Nuggets, while Edwards finished tied in ninth place.[19][20] The Bucks finished tenth in the NBA in home-game attendance, with an attendance of 660,939 at theBradley Center during the regular season.[18][21]

Following the season, Malone and Woolridge both left for free agency and signed with thePhiladelphia 76ers, whom Malone used to play for,[22][23][24] and with Woolridge signing during the next season,[25][26][27] and Roberts was released.
