The1986 LSU Tigers football team, representedLouisiana State University during the1986 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team was led byBill Arnsparger in his third and final season and finished with an overall record of nine wins and three losses (9–3 overall, 5–1 in the SEC), as Southeastern Conference (SEC) champions and with a loss againstNebraska in theSugar Bowl.[1]

Following the season, Arnsparger resigned to becomeathletic director at theUniversity of Florida, and was replaced by defensive coordinatorMike Archer.
