The1982 FA Charity Shield was a football match betweenLiverpool andTottenham Hotspur atWembley on 21 August 1982.[1]Liverpool, managed byBob Paisley had won the1981–82 Football League, and Tottenham, managed byKeith Burkinshaw had won the1982 FA Cup Final for a consecutive season. In doing so the teams qualified for the season opener which was played the week before the new leagueseason kicked off.[2][3]Ian Rush scored the only goal in the thirty-second minute to win the trophy for a ninth time for Liverpool.[4][5]
