The1981NCAA Division I Tennis Championships were the 36th annual tournaments to determine the national champions ofNCAA men's collegetennis. Matches were played during May 1981 at theDan Magill Tennis Complex inAthens, Georgia on the campus of theUniversity of Georgia. A total of three championships were contested: men's team, singles, and doubles.[1] A women's tournament would be introduced in1982.
The men's team championship was retained by theStanford Cardinal, their sixth team national title. Stanford defeatedUCLA in the final round, 5–1. The men's singles title was won byTim Mayotte fromStanford, and the men's doubles title was won byDavid Pate andKarl Richter fromTexas Christian University.
