The1980USA Indoor Track and Field Championships were held atMadison Square Garden inNew York City, New York. Organized byThe Athletics Congress (TAC), the competition took place on February 29 and served as thenational championships in indoortrack and field for theUnited States.[1]
The championships were the first ever held by TAC, having been organized by theAmateur Athletic Union previously. At the competition,Eamonn Coghlan broke the U.S. all-comer's record for3 miles. There was also a meeting held where 40 U.S. athletes voted unanimously against theUnited States boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics.[2]
