The1978NCAA Division I Tennis Championships were the 33rd annual tournaments to determine the national champions ofNCAA men's collegetennis. Matches were played during May 1978 at theDan Magill Tennis Complex inAthens, Georgia on the campus of theUniversity of Georgia. A total of three championships were contested: men's team, singles, and doubles.[1]
The men's team championship was won by theStanford, their fourth team national title. The Cardinal defeatedUCLA in the final, 6–3. The men's singles title was won byJohn McEnroe from Stanford, and the men's doubles title went toJohn Austin andBruce Nichols ofUCLA.
