The28thCannes Film Festival took place from 9 to 23 May 1975.[4] French actressJeanne Moreau served as jury president for the main competition.
Algerian filmmakerMohammed Lakhdar-Hamina won thePalme d'Or, the festival's top prize, for the drama filmChronicle of the Years of Fire.[5]
In 1975, a new non-competitive section,Les Yeux fertiles, was introduced. This section was later integrated into theUn Certain Regard section in 1978.[6][7]
The festival opened withA Happy Divorce byHenning Carlsen,[8][9] and closed withTommy byKen Russell.[10]
