The 58th running of theTour of Flanderscycling race in Belgium was held on Sunday 31 March 1974. DutchmanCees Bal won the classic ahead ofFrans Verbeeck andEddy Merckx.[1][2] The race started inGhent and finished inMeerbeke (Ninove).
A group of 40 was formed after theOude Kwaremont, further reduced on theMuur van Geraardsbergen. At six kilometers from the finish Cees Bal broke clear from the group, powering on to the victory inMeerbeke.[1]
