The1967South American Football Championship was won by hostsUruguay, withArgentina finished second.Brazil andPeru withdrew from the tournament. It was the first tournament in whichVenezuela participated. It would be the last time the tournament would be known as the South American Football Championship before being rebranded to Copa América, and the last time it would be formatted as around-robin tournament.
