The1965 Ballon d'Or, given to the bestfootball player in Europe as judged by a panel of sports journalists fromUEFA member countries, was awarded toEusébio on 28 December 1965.[1][2]

Eusébio was the firstPortuguese national to winthe award and still is the onlyBenfica player to have won it.[3]
