The1962 Los Angeles Angels season was the2nd season of the Angels franchise in theAmerican League, the 2nd inLos Angeles, and their 1st season playing their home games atChávez Ravine. The Angels finished the season third in theAmerican League with a record of 86 wins and 76 losses, ten games behind the World Series ChampionNew York Yankees. The 1962 Angels are one of only two expansion teams to achieve a winning record in its second season of existence in the history ofMajor League Baseball (the other is the1999 Arizona Diamondbacks of theNational League, who finished as NL West Champions at 100–62). The 1962 Angels was the first Angels team to reside atDodger Stadium, called Chavez Ravine by the team.
On May 5,Bo Belinsky threw the firstno-hitter in the history of the Angels and the first one atDodger Stadium, beating theBaltimore Orioles 2–0.
