The1959 Marshall Thundering Herd football team was anAmerican football team that representedMarshall University in theMid-American Conference (MAC) during the1959 college football season. In its first season under head coachCharlie Snyder, the team compiled a 1–8 record (1–4 against conference opponents), finished in sixth place out of seven teams in the MAC, and was outscored by a total of 343 to 72. Jim Maddox and Jim O'Conner were the team captains.[1] The team played its home games atFairfield Stadium inHuntington, West Virginia.
