The second1959 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 27th edition of themidsummer classic between theall-stars of theAmerican League (AL) andNational League (NL), the two leagues composingMajor League Baseball. It was played on Monday, August 3, at theLos Angeles Memorial Coliseum inLos Angeles,California, home of theLos Angeles Dodgers of the NL,[1][2] and was a 5–3 victory for the American League.[3][4] This was the second of two All-Star Games played in1959, thefirst was on Tuesday, July 7, inPittsburgh,Pennsylvania, also an NL city.[5][6]

The first Midsummer Classic held on theWest Coast,[2] it was also the first of only two All-Star Games not played in July; the other was in1981 following a lengthyplayers' strike.
