The1957NCAA Skiing Championships were contested atSnow Basin atMount Ogden,Utah, at the fourth annual NCAA-sanctioned ski tournament to determine the individual and team national champions of men's collegiatealpine skiing,cross-country skiing, andski jumping in theUnited States.[1][2][3]
Denver claimed its fourth national championship in as many years, all under coachWilly Schaeffler, topping in-state rivalsColorado in the team standings.[4][5]
The sole repeat individual champion wasDartmouth'sChiharu Igaya in the slalom, his third consecutive and sixth individual NCAA title. He was the silver medalist inslalom at the1956 Winter Olympics.
These championships were held March 29–31 inUtah atSnow Basin, located onMount Ogden inWeber County, north ofSalt Lake City.[3][6]
The fourth edition, these were the first NCAA championships in Utah and theWasatch Range. Later contracted to "Snowbasin", the ski area hosted the alpine speed events of the2002 Winter Olympics.
