The1956 United States presidential election in Washington took place on November 6, 1956, as part of the1956 United States presidential election. Voters chose nine[3] representatives, or electors, to theElectoral College, who voted forpresident andvice president.
Washington was won byincumbent PresidentDwight D. Eisenhower (R–Pennsylvania), running with Vice PresidentRichard Nixon, with 53.91% of the popular vote, againstAdlai Stevenson (D–Illinois), running withSenatorEstes Kefauver, with 45.44% of the popular vote.[4][5]
Eisenhower became the first Republican to carry Washington more than once.
