The1952 New Mexico gubernatorial election took place on November 4, 1952, in order to elect theGovernor of New Mexico. Incumbent RepublicanEdwin L. Mechem ran for and won reelection to a second term. Mechem was the first Republican gubernatorial candidate to ever winCurry County,De Baca County, andQuay County. Moreover,Luna County andMcKinley County voted Republican for the first time since1930. Mechem was the last Republican to carryOtero County untilJoe Skeen in1974.
