Elections toManchester City Council were held on Thursday, 10 May 1951. One third of the councillors seats were up for election, with each successful candidate to serve a three-year term of office. TheConservative Party retained overall control of the council.[1][2]

Caused by the death on 29 July 1951 of Alderman William Somerville (Conservative, elected as an alderman by the council on 2 February 1949).[3][4]

In his place, Councillor Tom Larrad (Labour, St. Mark's, elected 17 January 1933)[5] was elected as an alderman by the council on 5 September 1951.[6]

Caused by the death on 10 January 1952 of Alderman Leonard Cox (Labour, elected as an alderman by the council on 15 February 1939).[7][8]

In his place, Councillor Robert Malcolm (Labour, Bradford, elected 1 November 1933)[9] was elected as an alderman by the council on 6 February 1952.[10]
