Marshall andIndependent candidate and incumbent member of the Virginia House of DelegatesCharles R. Fenwick.
On election day, 6 November 1945,Democratic nomineeLewis Preston Collins II won the election by a margin of 58,140 votes against his foremost opponentRepublican nominee Carl A. Marshall, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of lieutenant governor. Collins was sworn in as the 26thlieutenant governor of Virginia on 20 January 1946.[1]
