The1944 West Virginia Mountaineers football team was anAmerican football team that representedWest Virginia University as an independent during the1944 college football season. In its eighth season under head coachIra Rodgers, the team compiled a 5–3–1 record and outscored opponents by a total of 191 to 130.[1][2] The team played its home games atMountaineer Field inMorgantown, West Virginia. Russell Lopez was the team captain.[3]
