The1940 Minnesota Secretary of State election was held on 5 November 1940 in order to elect theSecretary of State of Minnesota.Republican nominee andincumbent Secretary of StateMike Holm defeatedFarmer–Labor nominee James I. Heller andDemocratic nominee Austin T. Haley.[1]
On election day, 5 November 1940,Republican nomineeMike Holm won re-election by a margin of 570,606 votes against his foremost opponentFarmer–Labor nominee James I. Heller, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of Secretary of State. Holm was sworn in for his eleventh term on 6 January 1941.[2]
